The day count may be off here, it starts to blend together. The general trend from Washington on though was 2 nights, 1 day per place so let's keep rolling with that.
Anyways, Glacier National Park. One both of us would rave about, despite not actually seeing any of what the park was named for (thanks Covid). The slice of the park that we did see though was absolutely stunning. Home to what was honestly probably our hardest hike, the highlights of Glacier include super reflective lakes, mountain goats, and a hidden gem of a picnic dinner spot. Glacier's a must-see, and we can't even imagine what other beauty there is throughout the rest of the park.
First, the reflections: (gosh this was cool)
Grey's favorite, with the subtle ripples
Abby's favorite--it's just so BLUE
And maybe this one's your favorite, friendly viewer
Then, hiking Mount Brown:
This hike gave us about 4000 feet of elevation gain in just over 5 miles
The same lake we took those first view photos at, just a couple thousand feet higher
The higher we got, the more the landscape expanded before us
Reaching mountain height
Climb high enough, and snow you may find! Felt weird to be comfortably hiking in a tank top while actively walking through snow
That panoramic view |
Grey following our travel guide--when we eventually passed Mr. Goat, he gave Grey the biggest side-eye we have ever seen
Artistic capturing of the mountain goat in the mountainous landscape
He was so close to us! Still working on deciding if it's summer yet
Finally, dinnertime:
Hiked a few miles out to this spot for a picnic dinner--very worth the tired legs
The waterfalls were gorgeous, literally sparkling in the sun |
